Popeyes Chicken Founder Al Copeland Dies

In a sad note and because I've such a longtime fan of his creation, I feel the need to note that Popeyes Chicken and Biscuits founder Al Copeland passed on the other day:

Al Copeland, the founder of Popeyes Chicken and Biscuits, has died. He was 64 years old. In his native New Orleans, he was known as much for his flamboyant lifestyle as for his chain's spicy chicken.

At the age of 18, Copeland sold his car to fund his first restaurant: a doughnut shop. When a successful Kentucky Fried Chicken moved into his neighborhood, Copeland started tinkering with recipes and opened a restaurant of his own. But it struggled: The chicken was too bland. So, he returned to his Louisiana roots and made it spicy.

Under Copeland's leadership, Popeyes opened more than 700 restaurants worldwide. At a Popeyes in New Orleans, restaurant manager Herschel Epps says Copeland was true to his roots.

"The same way that he was today, he was yesterday. He was always consistent, a caring person, and his loss will be felt heavy around here because he was a great guy."

Marlon Jackson Packing Groceries For A Living

If this is true, not only is it sad, but really f-cked up:

The Jackson boys are all reported to be having financial problems, says the New York Post.

According to the newspaper, 51 year old Marlon Jackson now works at Von Supermarket in San Diego stacking shelves.

46 year old Randy Jackson fixes cars in Los Angeles.

56 year old Jackie Jackson started an internet sales company which crashed and is now helping his son become a rapper.

55 year old Tito Jackson plays in a blues and jazz band for $500 a night. He is currently a judge on the UK TV show 'Just The Two Of Us'.

Jermaine, now 54, lives between his girlfriend and his family homes while the woo's of Michael Jackson have been well documented.

It seems Janet Jackson is the real success story in the family. Janet is said to be worth $150 million.

I don't think that I've ever seen a grown man packing groceries for a living and considering that the source of this story is the New York Post (via the even more scrupulous Daily Star), it's hard to take this seriously. Yet, if it's true that some of the Jackson men are on hard times, not only fo they have no one to blame but themselves, but what it really comes down to is pride as I'm sure Janet would help them all out. Then too, how the hell is Janet worth $150million when she hasn't had a hit album in eons?!?

Remy Ma Found Guilty, Faces 25 Years

Remy Ma faces up to 25 years in prison for shooting some chick she thought stole her money last year:

Grammy-nominated rapper Remy Ma was convicted of assault, weapon possession, and attempted coercion on Thursday (March 27) and now faces up to 25 years in prison. The case involved an incident on July 14, 2007 when Remy Ma got into a woman's car after a party at a Manhattan nightclub and demanded that she dump her purse, accusing her of stealing $3,000. In her defense, the entertainer conceded that she did fire a shot but said the gun went off accidentally while the two women struggled over the purse. Assistant District Attorney Michael McIntosh said Remy Ma ''took an illegal .45-caliber automatic and loaded it with hollow-point bullets,'' then used both hands to cock the weapon as she got into the car. ''She took every step you had to take to shoot somebody,'' the prosecutor said. The victim, Makeda Barnes Joseph was shot in the abdomen and testified that she underwent three surgeries during a three-week hospital stay.

First of all, this incident is the perfect example of how sad Remy's career has gone as she had to shoot somebody herself in a job perfectly suited for a weed carrier. Either Remy had no weed carrier or she's just plain dumb. Or both. Then too is the fact that Remy, whose been dissing Fat Joe at every turn for her career being so down, seemed shocked at the fact that she was found guilty, like she's Busta Rhymes or something. Sorry Remy but you're not that important. Last but not least, if I were Makeda Joseph I'd pack up and leave town quick, angry dykes are not to be messed with....at all.

Wendy Williams Getting Beat By Husband?

Some disgruntled employee of "The Wendy Williams Experience" is making claims that Wendy's husband is a sexual predator who beats his wife's ass when Wendy gets out of line:

In the complaint, filed Monday with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Nicole Spence alleges Williams' 33-year-old husband Kevin Hunter demanded sex from her more than a dozen times, the Post reported.

"Mr. Hunter repeatedly sexually propositioned me at work in the most crude and vulgar ways, telling me over and over that he wanted to 'f---' me," the 27-year-old alleges. "I also feared Mr. Hunter because he repeatedly physically assaulted Ms. Williams at or near the WBLS studio."

Both Williams, 43, and Hunter deny the charges.

Now Wendy's literally a big girl so its hard to imagine her letting her younger husband beat that ass, esp. up in the radio station where she has a rep for being a total bitch. Of course, hypocrite that she is, Wendy refused to talk about these allegations on her show.
